How to grow on X in 2026
Reply every day to posts that already have 12 to 60 replies, write each reply yourself, and post things people can answer. That's how my account went from 125 followers on 5 Sep to 2,004 on 25 Oct 2026, almost all of it from replies I wrote by hand.
Why replies work when you're small
A new post only reaches the few people who already follow you. A reply sits under someone else's post, in front of everyone reading it. If it adds something, some of them tap your name, and a few follow.
So when you're small, most of your growth comes from where you reply, not from what you post. Here is the routine I use every day.
1. Pick posts where a reply still gets seen
- Posts with 12 to 60 replies. People are still reading, and there's room near the top.
- Skip posts past about 85 replies. Nobody scrolls down that far.
- Skip polls and posts under about 20 views.
- A reply gets about 0.5 to 2.8% of the post's views. On a 20K-view post, that's 100 to 560 views.
The full rule, with examples: who to reply to on X.
2. Write every reply yourself
- Add something: a number, an example from your own work, a short disagreement, or a real question.
- No templates and no "great post". People scroll past those.
- Spread out. Don't keep replying to the same account on the same day.
3. Do it every day, at a human pace
Showing up daily matters more than one big day. I write about 75 to 100 replies a day now. Never reply faster than about one a minute, and never at a steady rhythm.
How many is enough, with my real numbers: how many replies a day to grow on X.
4. Post things people can answer
Replies bring people to your profile. Your own posts are what they see when they get there. A real number, a decision you made, or one direct question gives them something to reply to.
5. Keep score
- Log every reply and what it earned: views, and whether the author replied back.
- Track new followers per 100 replies, week by week.
- Note the accounts that never reply back, and spend your replies elsewhere.
What not to do
- No automated replies and no AI reply bots. X's rules don't allow unsolicited automated replies.
- No auto-likes or auto-follows.
- No posting the same text twice. X's automation rules ban duplicate posts.
Read X's automation rules before you let any tool near your account.
