Who to reply to on X

By Ahmad Saridar · Updated 2 November 2026

Reply to posts that already have 12 to 60 replies. Under that, few people are reading yet. Past about 85, nobody scrolls down far enough to see you. In that window, a reply gets about 0.5 to 2.8% of the post's views.

The rule at a glance

Replies on the postWhat to do
Under 12Early. Few people are reading yet. Come back when it has more.
12 to 60Reply now. People are still reading, and there is room near the top.
61 to 85Crowded. Reply only if you add something new.
Past 85Skip. Nobody scrolls down far enough to see you.

Also skip polls (replies under polls go nowhere), ads, and posts under about 20 views: nobody will see a reply there.

What a reply gets: about 0.5 to 2.8% of the post's views

On my own replies, a reply in the window got about 0.5 to 2.8% of the views the post itself got. So the post's views tell you roughly what your reply can expect:

Post viewsLikely views for your reply
2K10 to 56
5K25 to 140
20K100 to 560
100K500 to 2.8K

A worked example: a post with 34 replies and 21K views is inside the window, so a reply there would likely get 110 to 590 views. The same post with 120 replies is a skip, however many views it has.

For new follows: the connect rule

Views are one thing, followers another. If you want new follows, look for accounts that follow more people than follow them, where neither of you follows the other yet. For example, someone followed by 800 who follows 1,500. The extension marks these as Connect.

How I measured this

These numbers come from my own replies on @asaridarr while the account grew from 125 followers on 5 Sep to 2,004 on 25 Oct 2026. I logged what each reply earned against the post it sat under, and these limits kept showing up.

They are my numbers, not a rule from X. Your niche and account can land differently, so keep your own score as well. How I do that: how to grow on X.
